Radiation Safety

Utah State University is permitted to use and process Radioactive Materials and Devices under a License issued by the Utah Division of Radiation Control of the Department of Environmental Quality. Under this License the responsibility to review and approve all specific uses and policies of these materials has been delegated by the President of the University to the Radiation Safety Committee (RSC). The License also provides for a Radiation Safety Officer to implement a Radiation Safety Program and ensure that all exposures are kept As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).

The elements and structure of the Radiation Safety Program can be found in the Radiation Safety Manual as published by the Radiation Safety Committee.

The License is available for review upon request at the Environmental Health and Safety Office during normal business hours.
